Alpha-Amylase

Alpha-amylase is an enzyme that helps break down starch molecules into sugars. It's found in the saliva and the lining of the small intestine. The main benefit of alpha-amylase for dogs is that it helps them digest food more efficiently. This means that they extract more energy and nutrients from their food, and they are less likely to experience digestive problems.

Lipase

Lipase is an enzyme that breaks down fat molecules. Lipase can be found in the pancreatic juice of dogs and other animals, but it's often supplemented in commercial dog food because dogs naturally produce less lipase than they need. Lipase can help improve the digestion of fats by breaking them into smaller particles that are easier to digest.

Cellulase

Cellulase is an enzyme that helps to break down dietary fiber into simple sugars.

Protease

Proteases are enzymes that break down proteins into amino acids. These enzymes have a positive effect on digestion and food breakdown.

Bacillus Coagulans (Probiotic)

Bacillus coagulant is a stabile probiotic that helps support healthy digestion in dogs. The Bacillus coagulant is known as a good, or beneficial probiotic that assists your dog's digestive system in part by increasing the immune system function. This favorable probiotic also supports the correction of bacterial imbalances.

Digestive Enzymes for Dogs is a proprietary blend of enzymes that work together to support the digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Each enzyme has been selected based on its ability to break down specific components of food.

Digestive Enzymes for Dogs contains protease, cellulase, lipase and amylase which can be used as a dietary supplement in dogs over 6 weeks old. The enzymes are derived from plant, fungal and bacterial sources. This exclusive formula is free from any artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, or fillers. These enzymes are produced by natural microorganisms and can be used to hydrolyze starch, proteins, cellulose, and triglycerides.

(1) One SKB unit is defined as the amount of enzyme needed to form 10 mg of reducing sugars from 1% soluble starch solution at pH 5.0 and 40 °C in 30 minutes. (2) One FCC Lipase Unit (LU) is defined as that quantity of enzyme that will liberate the equivalent of one μmol of acid (H+) per minute from the substrate, under the conditions of the assay. The assay is based on a five-minute hydrolysis of an olive oil substrate at pH 6.5 and 30 °C. The fatty acids released on hydrolysis of the glycerol esters are determined by titration with sodium hydroxide. (3) One carboxymethyl cellulose unit (CMCU) is that amount of enzyme which liberates one micromole of reducing sugar (expressed as glucose equivalents) in one minute under the conditions of the assay. (4) The activity of papain is measured in the FCC PU; the assay of which is based on the hydrolysis of casein. This assay is based on a 60-minute proteolytic hydrolysis of a casein substrate at pH 6.0 and 40 °C. One PU (Papain Unit) is defined as that quantity of enzyme that liberates the equivalent of 1μg of tyrosine per hour under the conditions of the assay.
